My uncle Richard Michael Garcia died today at the age of 58. My uncle was the oldest son from my mom's side. He was a strong man and yet frail. He was a joker in his younger days. He was always smiling. Something happened along the way. Disagreements occurred and space was made. My uncle for his reasons was distant in his later years. He had tears in his last moments, and his struggle is over and his worries will be left here. We spent the last ten years hoping our family could be whole again. It is easy to understand how things just might not be meant for this world. But looking at his tired eyes and exhausted body he put up a good struggle with life. This morning our family was whole. We were all together. We hugged , we consoled, and we loved.
